Lower Back and Hip Stretches for Hikers and Mountain Bikers
The great outdoors are my favorite place to exercise. In addition to being a real place to hike, jog, bike, climb, exercise, sit, think…they are also a great place to stretch. While on a hike, I found this tree and this view. One stretch at a time I enjoyed this routine in nature. I hope this gives you another way to enjoy your health while being outdoors.

There are muscles and muscle groups we use each and everyday to live our lives. So, there are exercises, stretches, and movements that are designed to prepare our muscles for everyday use. Many people talk about core strength, few talk about core flexibility, and even fewer talk about joint health of the core. However, to truly have a strong core that will help you perform all your activities in a day, while protecting you from injuries which lead to low back pain, hip pain, leg pain or sciatica, you need to have a core the has all 3 components. Their LIFE!
??Do they worry about if they have a cold, a car, a house, or even their health? NO
?? So, what is life?
Is it the thoughts we have, jobs we do, and the lives we live?
No it is beyond all that, it is the being alive part, that allows us to do all those things.
?? What are some of the trillions of things that LIFE provides us?
Our ability to be healthy and active with avoiding or reducing suffering whenever possible.
?? Let’s look at where life lives, before we look at, what life is?
?? LIFE lives in every living thing and it is even in the spaces between every living thing.
?? But for this conversation, let’s just look at one specific aspect of where it lives in our body, which is the brain, nerve system, and cells.
?? THIS IS WHERE LIFE CONTROLS AND COORDINATES EVERYTHING IN OUR LIVES.
?? The brain generates about 20 watts of electricity.
This is enough to power a low-wattage light bulb.

?? However, we do know that the God that created that LIFE is capable of doing anything with that LIFE.
?? THIS LIFE IS INCREDIBLY ORGANIZED, INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT, BEYOND OUR GREATEST UNDERSTAND, AND ALWAYS WILL BE.
?? THE GOOD NEWS IS WE DON’T NEED TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS AND EVERYTHING IT CAN DO TO RECEIVE ITS’ BENEFITS, WE CAN JUST DO A BETTER JOB AT PROTECTING AND UTILIZING LIFE IN OUR BODY AND RECEIVE AND ENJOY ITS’ BENEFITS
?? Where does LIFE come from?…
??GOD or SLIME
??Highly Organized or Random
??I only see 1 type of human being, not multiple variations of how to breath air or digest food, which would have happened if we just evolved randomly. Then to also make a male and female version that go together to make new life. That does not seem random at all.
?? I see incredible levels of design, consistency, and organization as we learn new and amazing things about life each and every day. Look at the amazing things people can do with near impossible situations. We also can watch over time the amazing things the earth does to care for itself and the way we are finding new ways that the earth provides for us. One example is how you can find an amazing flower from the rain forest or something at the bottom of the ocean to solve a problem that people are experiencing. Usually, but not always, from problems people have self imposed by not following the rules of nature from the beginning.
?? When Observing and studying how amazing people and the earth is, I mean all you have to do is look at something so common to us as rain, water comes down, waters the land, then evaporates into the clouds again.
Or the morning dew that covers every blade of grass!
This and 1,000’s of other examples leads me to God as my only conclusion!
?? ?? Bones and discs don’t have feelings, only the nerves that go through them do, so many people don’t feel this happening all the time, only when the nerve fibers for pain are aggravated. But there are 1,000’s of other fibers in every nerve sheath.

3 TYPES OF WORKOUTS… PRE WORKOUT? WORKOUT? POST WORKOUT?
Many people are familiar with the “warm up” or pre workout. Even more people are familiar with the “workout”. You know…things like walking, running, biking, and weight training. “Workouts” can also include things you do at home or at the office. Yardwork, housework, active jobs, moving, bringing in groceries can also be considered a “workout”. However to truly maximize the “workout”, minimize injury, start your body towards healing, and get your body ready for the next “workout”, it is import to have a post workout. This video shows you what exercises you can do using a kettle bell or any weight to increase functional total body strength and endurance. These exercises help us to be better at performing many of the movements that we ask our body to do in our everyday lives. Functional movement training also helps us reduce the risk of injuries to our, neck, low back, and body when we train on how to perform movements properly, work on the flexibility, and strength of the muscles required for our everyday movement patterns. So it is important that functional training is part of our exercise programs and that we know how to perform every exercise safely. Safely to me means, getting all the positive benefits of exercise, while minimizing or eliminating, if possible, any of the negative effects of exercise. I have learned over time that it is not worth it to do any exercise in a way that builds a muscle, but comes at the cost of a joint, disc, neck, or back. Joint health is to high of a price to pay for a temporary muscle. There are too many other exercises that you can do that promote joint health along with muscle health. Those are the exercises I try and gravitate towards. If you want to be active for the long haul, one of the most important things you can do is consider the joints of your neck, shoulders, back, hips, knees…when you start or are performing any exercise program.

These are the exercises I do and have done for my spine everyday for years. One of the main indicators of health for your neck, back, and low back is the health of your spine. This includes how well they move and how they feel. These exercises are easy to follow, easy to do, and take very little time. However the positive impact on every area of your life can’t be measured. Making sure your joints and discs are healthy, moving, and providing a clear path for your nerves will enhance each and every movement you perform in life.
It is also important to note that the order in which you work out your body matters. If you work out on stuck joints you can wear them out faster and become vulnerable to injury. If you get your joints and discs moving and hydrated first, then you will not only be able to receive more of the positives benefits of the activities you enjoy, but also, without those activities coming at the cost of your spine, joints, discs, and nerves.
